Suicide Week Is Almost Over

I almost feel like a normal human being today. Until, of course, someone mentions The Game That Shall Never Be Mentioned Again, again. Thus, I remain in my bunker until I can put forth something that doesn't reek of despair. Good day, fair readers, the healing continues.

One Final Thought

To all of you out there who purchased tickets and travel packages to the BCS National Championship Game:

I hate you.

-J.

P.S. I don't really hate you, I'm just bitter and depressed and need somewhere to focus my vitriol.

Rich Rod Presser

Just watched the Rodriguez Monday press conference. He has restored some sense of my dignity, but not much. His explanation for the outcome was the same as every person in that stadium...."it was a complete nightmare". Agreed. He pointed out that we did things we've never done. Agreed. He said we played the worst we have in years. Agreed. I think he said fuck. Agreed.

My Evening Plans

I rejoined the real world Monday in Columbus after that debacle. Wow.

Fuckity Fuck Fuck Fuck FUCK!!!

Sigh. This kid is a younger version of me right now.

Kill me.

Our BCS Destination

WVU shall play Oklahoma. I couldn't care less. Also, no team in our situation ever wins their bowl game. So chew on that.

There is nothing for me to say right now. Thanks Rich.

The Day Has Arrived

Well, the longest week of my life is over. I'll be in Morgantown for the weekend, and will hopefully be too busy to post anything. If I'm lucky, I'll be thrown in jail after the greatest celebration man has ever witnessed. I set my standards high people.

Beat the HELL out of Pitt!!

Field Nazis Lay Down the Warning

Stay off the field. These fucking guys act like the student section is full of suicide bombers or something. They are planning on a large security presence? Well, that's not unexpected. They mention riot gear, police dogs, and pepper spray? If these ignorant assholes didn't beat the ever living fuck out of the student body in 2003, it wouldn't even be a big deal! How many times do you see a field rush on ESPN? EVERY WEEKEND!! We are the only school to bring in assault helicopters and A-10 tank killers to massacre kids that want to celebrate. We had snipers at Mountaineer Field after that VT game. SNIPERS! We have the only cops in the country that put kids in the hospital last time it happened by blinding them with spray then beating them with clubs. AND THEY WERE MANDATED TO DO SO BY THE WVU ADMINISTRATION. It's unreal. It's embarrassing. Fuck you Morgantown cops, West Virginia state troopers, and whoever the admins are that call for this type of action.

Is rushing the field dumb? Sure. Is it worth treating students and fans like a band of rioting thugs for doing shit every other school does? Absolutely not. At least wait until they try to burn the town down. Cops beating kids for being on the field only escalates the situation. I can't believe they're too stupid to realize that. When you fight a student section and unleash police dogs and blast clouds of pepperspray, what do you expect? They will raise hell where the cops aren't, and that's in the streets right after the game. Idiots.

Remember Us?

Awesome article here. Read it.

Even McDonald's Hates Pitt

Jarred Fayson Coming To WVU?

That would be sweet. The Florida receiver is seeing little time with Percy Harvin in the picture, and would be a badass pickup for the Mountaineers. This is being reported on many message boards, and scrolled on ESPN as well.

Gold Out Bitches!

Let's get it on. Wear your damn gold people. Don't suck. Stand up, be loud, be insane. Rich says so. God I hate Pitt so much...

Live Near a Browneye Fan?

Here you go. This is supposedly from www.wemustignitethiscouch.com but I can't find it there. If anyone can get me the link to credit them, I'd appreciate it.

"BCS Fun

Shifting focus a bit, it seems that a host of haters have popped out of the woodwork around cyberspace and the media to decry the Mountaineers' ascent to their lofty BCS ranking for a variety of reasons. While soaking up the criticism of others is a sign that your favorite team has truly reached the pinnacle of success, it will be necessary to put the jealous and misinformed haters into their place over the course of the next month and a half. So here, for your convenience, is a crib sheet for Mountaineer fans to refute the various incorrect arguments against the Mountaineers inclusion in the BCS Championship game.

Argument #1- "Your schedule is a joke!"

Response- Apparently the Sagarin ratings don't agree.

See, the BCS takes strength of schedule into account via the Sagarin Ratings, which make up a percentage of the "computer" vote that is weighed along with the human polls.

WVU's present strength of schedule in those ratings is 35th. Not particularly low or high, but better than other BCS Championship game hopefuls like Ohio State (56), Kansas (90), Oklahoma (67), and Virginia Tech (45), and not significantly statistically different from other teams like Missouri (34), USC (33), Georgia (22), or LSU (26). The only team in the Top 10 of the BCS with significantly better strength of schedule is Florida (5), who also has three losses on their resume.

So when the champion of the SEC is either going to have the 26th or 25th hardest schedule (LSU and Tennessee, respectively), and the likely champion of the Pac-10 has the 33rd hardest schedule, exactly how hard does WVU's schedule need to be?

Forget what a fan's biased eyes see as far as strength of schedule. I'll take the facts. And I'll be right.

Get ready for the Hater's Ball.

Argument #2- "You didn't beat anyone! _________ is more deserving!"

This is the point at which the traditional powers of college football and present realities part ways. There are plenty of traditionalists who live in a world which South Florida, Cincinnati, Rutgers, and UConn are afterthoughts. Doormats. These same traditionalists view Notre Dame's season this year as a hiccup, rather than a continuing trend of mediocrity.

Does it matter that WVU drilled Mississippi State, who beat Auburn and Kentucky this year? Does it matter that WVU has played 4 ranked teams this year and beaten three of them?

Not to these people. It just matters what the school's name is, and whether that school was ranked when daddy was growing up.

Additionally, almost as important as the "who you beat" argument as far as deserving a chance to play for the title is the "who did you lose to" contingent. Of all the teams in the BCS Top 10, only Missouri (a road loss to Oklahoma) has a loss on their schedule that is as respectable as WVU's loss to South Florida in October.

WVU lost to a team presently ranked 21st in the BCS. On the road. At night. In what that team considered "the biggest game in the history of the program."

Contrast this these teams' losses, in order of their BCS rank after Missouri and WVU:

1) Ohio State- Lost AT HOME as the #1 team, knowing a national championship was at stake, to an unranked Illinois team.

2) Georgia- Lost AT HOME to presently-unranked South Carolina, and lost at presently-ranked 14 Tennessee. Also failed to even win its conference.

3) Kansas- Respectable loss to now-#1 Missouri at a neutral site, but that 90th-ranked SOS isn't going to help them. Plus they, too, will not win their conference.

4) Virginia Tech- Lost AT HOME to a Boston College team that couldn't pass effectively because the game was played in a monsoon. Also got shellacked by LSU so completely that the Tigers are still finding hokie feathers around the field.

5) LSU- Lost AT HOME to presently-unranked Arkansas, and lost at presently-unranked Kentucky. Yes, their two losses were both in triple overtime, but knowing that a national championship was at stake, they couldn't figure out how to stop the spread option. (And the claim that WVU couldn't score on LSU was rendered completely moot.)

6) USC- Lost AT HOME to doormat of NCAA D-I football Stanford, and lost at Oregon.

But honestly, anything after "lost AT HOME to Stanford" doesn't even need to be listened to. Sorry, USC. You lost to Duke. No BCS Championship for you.

7) Oklahoma- Lost to presently-unranked Colorado and presently-unranked Texas Tech.

So exactly who are you going to promote from this group over Missouri and WVU, should both teams win out? While there were some impressive wins among them, there were also some pretty big slipups that neither the (Mizzou) Tigers nor the Mountaineers have.

Argument #3- "You don't play a conference championship!"

The Big East, unlike other conferences with championship games, plays a schedule in which every team plays every other team during the course of the regular season.

Exactly WHY do we need a championship game? It's already been settled on the field!

Argument #4- "Missouri/WVU would be the most boring BCS Championship Game ever!"

Really? Two of the most dynamic offenses in college football- both in the Top 8 of scoring offense- with 3 pre-season Heisman candidates on the field (and 2 that will be going to New York City as finalists for the award), running two drastically different versions of the spread offense which one of the coaches happened to invent... won't be fun to watch?

One team ranked 2nd in the nation in rushing yards per game, the other ranked 4th in passing yards per game... is a dull game?

Two of the most talented QB's in college football, each imposing their will on the game in different, thrilling ways... won't move the ratings needle?

Patrick White- boring. Who knew?

Two schools that have never won a national championship, including one that is the winningest team in the history of NCAA D-I football never to have won a title... won't draw a crowd?

Please. Exciting football is exciting football. And unless I missed a memo and fast-moving, high-scoring offenses suddenly became boring, I'd say that a Missouri/WVU title game would be a hell of a game to watch.

So there you have it. A possibility that we (ok, I) thought all but dead, the potential to fulfil all of our wildest dreams as Mountaineer fans, and the ammo to shut up the haters who are jealous of the success presently being enjoyed by our beloved program."

the Ohio State University

The Buckeye fans are mouthy, which is nothing new. I am reading on an awful lot of websites that tOSU would kill us. I read them saying that we shouldn't be in the game, but they should. I keep hearing them say we have no tradition. I keep watching them on TV talking about what a joke we are. They keep saying we have no history, and therefore they say we have no chance.

That's fine. We have no national title. We have no Heisman winner. We don't have a 100,000 seat stadium.

One thing for the Buckeyes to remember though. Tradition and history can't tackle Patrick White and Steve Slaton you mother fuckers. And based on Juice Williams' performance, neither can James Lauranaitis.

Nice picture douchebag. And for what it's worth, this dude is pure, utter garbage of a linebacker. He's undersized and slow. But in Columbus, it doesn't matter. They don't play any decent offenses, EVER, so they all look like stars. Hopefully we can change that on January 7. Bring on the Browneyes.

This is going to be a long fucking week...

The Buildup

I cannot stop thinking about it. It is within our grasp. This video is glorious.

The Hate Has Begun

It's so much fun being a WVU fan in Ohio. Sometimes. Like today for instance. They look down on us. They loathe us. They don't respect us. They never will. I live for this.

You can read any variety of articles about WVU in regards to the national championship game. Some heap praise upon us, while others degrade us. I don't give a damn what either of them says. We are one epic beatdown of Pitt from a national title game appearance, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. God that feels good.

I heard Kirk Herbstreit on the radio quite a lot today. There is some serious spin going on right now in Columbus. The radio hosts here (well, Kirk and Hooley) have concluded that tOSU doesn't want to play for the title. They want to play USC, as that will supposedly get them more respect in the end. Well, I'll tell you what then. You can have the respect. We want the trophy.

We also want the Buckeyes. There is nothing that would make me more happy than to smoke them in a title game. Not to just beat them, but to humiliate them. How much good would that do for those of us that grew up near the Ohio border? It's unfathomable. Playing Mizzou? Fine. Playing tOSU? Glorious.

But just so I don't get ahead of myself, I'm not counting any chickens just yet. Anything can happen, and we have one more to play. This is our time to prove we belong. It's been long enough.

Longest Week of My Life

Let's hope for good things come Saturday. Here's last weekend's celebration.

Domination: Big East Championship Style

Ladies and gentlemen, we have successfully completed our first objective. The Big East Championship and BCS bid belong to us. Objective number two is on deck.

Let's end what's going to be the longest week of my life with an absolute groin kicking of Pitt. Let's go Mountaineers!!

We'll get caught up a little bit upon our return to Columbus tomorrow evening. Man, it's tough being a WVU fan there right now.

Connecticut v West Virginia

Let's gooooooooooooooooo Mountaineers!!

I'm out.

Weekend Plan

I'm heading to Morgantown tomorrow for the game, but I'm pretty sure I won't be able to sleep at all tonight. I am enduring a huge high right now after that LSU result, no drugs needed. In the morning I'm going to climb aboard my cloud of ecstasy, elation, and pure joy, and float my happy ass right over to West by God. Upon arrival, I shall partake heartily in the spoils of the soon-to-be-victorious (ie. Captain and Coke) so that I may remain warm and pure of voice while donning my exceptionally burly and Viking-rific coonskin cap. I shall also covet a reasonably sized flask of the dear Captain just in case things are tighter than I am comfortable with. Upon completion of the contest, I will triumphantly return to The Editor's domicile to watch Armageddon in Arrowhead play out with much glee and lightness of heart. I shall also scream often at the television for little to no apparent reason.

I tell you what people, I'm fucking pumped up. If I were a Viking, I'd be pillaging right now. Yes I would. I almost feel guilty being this jacked for a game against UConn.

Boise State v Hawaii

It looks like Hawaii is going to pull this one off. Is it just me or do their fans look like the biggest bunch of dangerously crazed idiots west of Morgantown. I mean it. I think I would be terrified to be a visiting fan there. Gadzooks are they rowdy. Despite the picture above, they do seem to be much more dangerous in medium sized to relatively large packs, such as those found at the actual stadium. Also, it would appear they love to throw an unending stream of garbage on to the goddam football field. You'd think people that live in paradise would care a bit more about the environment.

Mountaineer Basketball

That was a valiant effort the guys put forth tonight against #7 Tennessee. They were sloppy to be sure, but they played hard. I loved Huggy getting the technical as well. He's going to be a blast as our head coach. We managed to hit a 3 at the buzzer to lose by only 1 point. Good effort guys, nothing to be ashamed of.

Looking Ahead To The Evening of December 1, 2007

Now this is the Morgantown I know and love. I've missed you, and I can't wait to see you again.

Well, other than that car situation. That's just fucked up.

Morgantown, Is That You?

Let's hope so. Two weeks from tomorrow, the world could end as we know it.

UConn and Pitt are all that stand in our way. Let's do this.

BOOM BOOM BOOM MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!

Holy shit.

Holy shit.

Holy shit.

Holy shit.

Holy shit.

LSU is gone friends.

Our time has finally arrived. We now have the shot we have so desperately wanted for so desperately long. There is no more time for lazy fumbles, a lack of focus, or poor execution. We are now in the full glare of the spotlight. No stumbles. Let's show these mother fuckers what we've got.

Turkey Day Football

This is the coolest alteration of a field logo I've seen. Awesome stuff. It's also quite nice that this game is going well for WVU. If ASU does lose, it will get one more team off our back. Had ASU won out, they could have an argument as a one loss team. It looks as if that shall not be a worry. Excellent.

Pure Awesomeness

Yes.

Public Safety Announcement

Johnny inspired me last night by letting me know that I have saved many a child's life with my inane video posting. Therefore, I will now attempt to further my heroism. Watch this, turkey fryer afficianados. Let's stay safe out there kiddies.

Well I'll Be Damned

The Kragthorpe held a press conference today to announce that he is "100% committed" to Louisville and will build the program back to championship level. I was wrong, oh well. I think it's good for them in the long run though, so I'm not unhappy.

West Virginia Defense

Courtesy of the World Wide Leader, a fine article. This is worth reading if for no other reason than the quote of the year.

"So, Keilen, do you watch those BCS standings pretty closely?

'I'd be lying if I said I didn't. ... If we had a different logo on our helmet, they'd probably put us higher. But it is what it is. ... Hopefully, we'll go out and win these two games [including the season finale against Pitt], and see what happens.'

Any bowl game in particular you're hoping for?

'Well, nobody wants to go to the Backdoor-Mickey Mouse-Whatever-You-Want-to-Call-it-Dot.com Bowl,' Dykes said."

For the record, I had a great time at our last Backdoor-Mickey Mouse-Whatever-You-Want-to-Call-it-Dot.com Bowl.

Louisville Coaching Saga

It's been reported for several days now, from several quasi-reputable sources, that Steve Kragthorpe has indeed started looking for a job. How prophetic of Mr. John Radcliff. It would appear that the Kragthorpe is going to take the SMU job and leave UL after only one year. At the very least, he is seriously considering it.

Now, I know that Kragthorpe has F'ed up their season royally. He's suspended countless players, had no communication with anybody about anything, and lost way too many games given the talent level there. I am 100% certain that I would be furious if we were in the same situation.

But while I understand that Cards fans will rejoice by the thousands, what does this mean for their program's immediate and long-term future? It certainly goes a long way towards making that a less desirable job, I would think, and might even drive Tom Jurich (their outstanding AD) out the door. After all, he made the hire, and the fans haven't supported it, even after all Jurich has done there. I mean, he only got them into the Big East and hired Petrino and Pitino for the love of God. Don't you think they might owe him some trust? And what coach wants to take a position where he literally loses his fanbase after 5 games? He's been treated like garbage by the fans there, and they would likely say he has returned the favor. It's quite ugly if you aren't aware.

We'll have to wait and see what happens here, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Kragthorpe is out of there in 2-3 weeks, and UL is searching for a coach again.

For more information, I direct you to the UL Rivals and Scout boards, Card Chronicle, and ESPN. The story originally broke on Football Rumor Mill, and I've been monitoring it for several days on several sites. It's pretty damn intriguing, and could mean a lot one way or the other for the Big East.

Wow

I have no comment.

Devastation

Fat kid pain.

Noel Devine, NEXT!

Check this out. ESPN has Noel Devine listed as one of 5 choices for athletes that are NEXT. I think this is ESPN's lame way of trying to point out who might be the newest future star of whatever sports are popular. Somehow, they included baseball in that mix...Regardless, visit the little spot and give him your vote. He is, after all, a badass. And a Mountaineer badass at that.

I will take this opportunity to stand on my soap box and scream "HEY RICH, GIVE HIM THE F'ING BALL!!"

And it begins again...

Head Coach Rich Rodriguez is being mentioned as a candidate for the newly vacant Michigan position. I'm not sure where I stand on this one, but I just don't feel like he'd go for it. Who knows though, I've been wrong before.

Can you people believe it? We have an actual, legitimate opportunity to make the national championship game. Next step, UCONN.

EDIT: Rodriguez removed himself from consideration today per the ESPN2 Halftime show of tonight's incredibly crappy football game.

Wow

Alright people. It's been a long, crazy, fantastic weekend. I'm just getting home from my journey, and it's going to take some time to unravel all this. The Steelers just lost to the Jets, unreal, so I'm kind of bummed out. But I just looked at the new BCS, and my mood was brightened substantially.

We are #3 in the BCS after jumping Mizzou. Our computer ranking is tied for 3rd with OSU and Arizona State. OSU has no more games, so they're stuck. Arizona State plays USC, but won't jump 3 places IF they win. Missouri or Kansas will lose, and the winner of their game will likely be #2 after next weekend. But that's not important. This is. We have 2 games left and a computer ranking of #3. If we win, our computer average can only go up. Thus, as long as one of two scenarios plays out, we're a lock, assuming we win out.

If LSU loses, we're in. If the Big 12 South rep beats Kansas/Missouri in the Big 12 title game, we're in. That's all people. We need Texas/Oklahoma to beat Kansas/Missouri in two weeks. Or we need Arkansas/Georgia/Tennessee to beat LSU. As long as we win out, it's a lock. Holy shit.

Friday, November 16, 2007

BOOM MOTHERFUCKER!!

And then it all comes down, and we're right back in the hunt. Thank you Arizona, thank you. Let's get it done on Saturday, Mountaineers. Since two of the three Big 12 teams in front of us will have to lose, we're actually sitting at #4, not #6. Now that Oregon goes down, we're #3 in the BCS. There is no more time for excuses or a lack of intensity. It's fucking showtime. Let's do this.

Oregon In Trouble

This game just got interesting. I pointed out earlier that Arizona can throw and Oregon can't stop it. Now, though, Dixon is out for the game. That awesome Duck offense just got dropped to average. I still wish we called plays like they do. My God they are beautiful and frustrating to watch when Dixon is in there. I get upset because that's what WVU should look like.

Holy crap. I felt stupid for thinking this might be a tough game for Oregon, but look at what we have. This is insane.

Oregon Ducks v Arizona Wildcats

Vs

On the surface, this game looks like it should be blowout. Oregon is 8-1 and ranked #2. Arizona is 4-6 and frankly, pretty crappy. That being said, keep your eyes on an interesting stat. Oregon's pass defense is ranked #105. Meanwhile, the Arizona passing offense is ranked #9. Could it be enough to keep this game close? Possibly. Could it be enough to cause an upset? Let's hope so. I still feel like this game will be a rollover for the Ducks, but they did lose last year to these guys. You never know this season.

And tonight is no exception on the insanity of 2007's version of college football.

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Akron v Miami (OH)

Vs

Holy crap does this game suck ass. This is absolutely putrid. And OSU beat this Akron team 20-2. Outstanding. And yes, that is a drunken Ben Roethlisberger before facial reconstruction and bionic limbs.

What the Hell, It's a Classic

Yes it is.

Hump Day Violence

Woohoo!

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

O-H-I-.......shit

John Radcliff, thank you fine sir.

This is brilliant.

As an FYI, now that they've lost, the fans have taken to attacking other teams. Michigan, WVU, LSU, Oklahoma, and USC are the main targets. If you're in the vicinity, beware. But feel free to remind them of Juice Williams peeholing their defense for an entire quarter when everyone knew what was coming. Sweet glorious justice.

Observations From Week 12

I am not thrilled with our performance on Thursday night. That much has been made clear I think. At this point though, I'm more worried about Cincinnati than anything else. We are prone to turnovers (not consistently, but when they come, they come in bunches with us). Cincy is all about creating turnovers. If the fumbling WVU shows up, we lose. It's as simple as that.

If we just keep winning, we should get to #4 at minimum. Two of the Big 12 teams in front of us are assured of losing. We will pass whichever two drop a game. That leaves 1 Big 12 team ahead of us no matter what. Whoever wins the Big 12 Championship game will remain above WVU, and there's nothing we can do about it but complain.

That leaves the other slot open for Oregon or LSU. It's unlikely that Oregon will lose, but they do have a rivalry game coming up against Oregon State, and play an improving Arizona team this Thursday. Pray for them to lose a game. We need it badly.

LSU has Arkansas and the SEC Championship game left as their only challenges. Ole Miss doesn't count. I can see LSU losing to Arkansas, it's not that far fetched considering their penchant for letting garbage teams hang around for 4 quarters. If Georgia makes it to the SEC title matchup, I go with the Bulldogs to win. They are really looking great right now. That being said, if UGA wins out, would they pass us? I'm not sure. Either way, we have to hope for an LSU loss somewhere.

So there's the scenario at this point. If Oregon and LSU win out, that's your BCS title game. If one loses, it's the other vs. a Big 12 team in the title game. If they both lose, it's likely our spot to lose against whoever the Big 12 team is. Unless, of course, we get jumped. Georgia could jump us, but no one else is in position to do so. OSU will not, VT will not, etc...

Bottom line? West Virginia has to win out, and pray for both Oregon and LSU to lose. An upset in the Big 12 would be nice too, and maybe give us some room to breathe a little bit.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. We have a huge game coming up on Saturday that no one thought would be that big before this year started. I don't think their crowd will bother us any, as the stadium is too small. But make no mistake, UC is treating this as their game of the year. It seems like we're that game for everybody doesn't it? That makes me happy. Regardless, UC will come out fired up in this game, and we have to match that intensity. We cannot come out flat, we cannot turn the ball over, and we cannot have a crappy gameplan (fat chance). Our season, and all our hopes, can come down to this one.

Other than that, we just need some help elsewhere. So root for every crappy team against every good one, and let's just see what happens.

Also, root for Michigan. It can't hurt, and makes my life much more enjoyable.

Devastation In Paradise

Holy hell did Colt Brennan get blasted...

The Polls Are Fucking Rigged, And So Shall Mine Be (Week 12)

Alright, I've calmed down. Here we go.

1. Oregon - I love them
2. Non-fumbling WVU - I love them too
3. LSU - They annoy me, so let's hope they lose.
4. Oklahoma - Why not? They beat Missouri and Tejas.
5. Missouri - Is that spelled right? I think they might be really good.
6. Georgia - Have you seen them lately? Yikes.
7. Virginia Tech - Have the turkeys found an offense? Perhaps.
8. Arizona State - They are good. I've dogged them too long.
9. Ohio State - Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
10. USC - Back in the mix, sort of.
11. Florida - Looking good again, but actually only beating shitty teams.
12. Cincinnati - This game is going to be TOUGH.
13. Clemson - On fire right now, which is unprecedented!
14. Kansas - Look, I like these cats, but they just aren't that good. Sorry.
15. Tennessee - Uhhh, sure.
16. Auburn - What is wrong with these guys? UGA is good though.
17. UConn - Was that just an off-day, or was it the real team?
18. Louisville - Why do they lose so much? I don't get it.
19. Rutgers - What do they have against service academies? They taunt Navy and run up the score on Army. What a bunch of guido dicks.
20. Virginia - So tired of the Hoos winning, though that was a nice one on Saturday.
21. Boston College - Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
22. Illinois - maybe too high here
23. Wisconsin - 2 decent games in a row, HOLY SHIT!!!!!
24. USF - Ehhhh, they have totally fallen apart.
25. Fumbling WVU - I hate them.

Sunday Night Stupidity

This is just damn solid right here. I hate Nancy Grace, and apparently, so does her producer.

Sunday Night Game Re-watch

So I'm rewatching the UL game right now, and after the weekend played out I'm not nearly as disgusted. I'll give a full recap of my state of mind probably tomorrow evening. I'll get a video up to entertain you until then.

As far as the CBS article is concerned, I reread it sober, and found that there is much of it that I do not agree with. Mostly because Doyel left out several games that invalidate his points.

Saturday, November 10, 2007

Thursday Night Hangover

Alright, look. I'm still really angry about that game. Disgusted, actually. Anyway, I'm not in any type of shape or mood to really do anything with the blog. I'm still in Morgantown trying to forget what I saw on Thursday night. For a more complete recap of exactly how I feel, check out Charley's newest post on West BY GOD Virginia. It's right on the money.

I'll get back to doing something productive tomorrow. There was a pretty nasty article written about WVU and the fans on the CBS website that I'm going to analyze. The worst part? I agree with much of it...and that breaks my heart.

Afterthoughts

We should not be a Top 25 team. We are not good. We have all the talent in the world, and absolutely no execution. Our game day coaching sucks. Our play calling sucks. Our star players can't hold on to the goddam ball, and it sucks. Thank God for our defense, or we would have gotten killed tonight, and frankly, we deserved to. Yes, I'm pissed off, and we all should be. That was straight up embarrassing tonight. To all you people saying that it's a win and that's all that matters? You haven't been paying attention. We're trying to win national championships here, not just chill out in the Top 15. We can't play like this EVERY TIME we're on national television, and ask for more respect. We have to earn it, and right now, we're earning less. The next time someone tells me that WVU sucks, I will not disagree. I'm so tired of this shit. We should be so much better than we are right now, and I just can't get over how bad we look. I love the Mountaineers with all my heart, but I hate this team tonight. This was absolutely embarrassing. End of story. If you want to disagree, feel free, but I saw that bullshit in person. I felt the pain of every fan in there. I saw the UL fans celebrate at our suckiness. We should not be a Top 25 team.

The Polls Are Fucking Rigged, and So Shall Mine Be (Week 11)

Let's give this a shot. I'm certain that I won't be happy with it though...

1. Oregon - I'm not so sure about their defense, but they are sweeeeeet on offense.
2. WVU - When we come to play, I think we're more like #1. Big game this week to prove that.
3. LSU - They are so damn lucky, but they just keep doing it.
4. Ohio State - They play so close to the vest that they don't make mistakes.
5. Oklahoma - Remain to be tested by Mizzou
6. Mizzou - We'll see what happens in the Big XII title game against OU.
7. Georgia - I dunno about this one.
8. Arizona State - They really are good, but Oregon made them look stupid.
9. Kansas - Good for them running it up on the Huskers. I love Mangino!
10. Virginia Tech - Sadly, they have absolutely no offense.
11. USC - Still wouldn't want to play them really.
12. UConn - Keep on winning and we'll crush your dreams.
13. Auburn - Sure.
14. Texas - Sketchy? Absolutely.
15. Cincinnatti - Great defense, good enough offense.
16. Florida - No defense, subpar offense, somehow I still think they're good.
17. Virginia - Apparently they only lose to the crappiest teams on their schedule.
18. USF - 8 turnovers and still almost pulled it off. I hate them.
19. Boston College - Yeah, this is more like it.
20. Tennessee - Whatever
21. Alabama - Whatever
22. Louisville - I like beating ranked teams!
23. Michigan - HOT! HOT! HOT! and almost Sparty'd
24. Clemson - Did I drop them? I can't remember, and I don't care.
25. Rutgers - Keep chopping! Hahaha.

I can't believe WVU lost to USF. I really can't. We should be sitting on top of it all right now, or at worst, #2. Now, we can't even get past #7 because we continue to be jumped by teams that we would hammer. Oh well, we just have to keep winning. We've still got a ways to go with this season, and some teams have championship games. Sadly, our schedule is crap. Maryland is killing us, as are USF, UL, and RU. Sigh.

Defensive Play of the Year

USA! USA! USA!

Dammit!

Suffering from some internet issues. I am in the process of getting it fixed. Expect long delays, heavy congestion, and a general pain in the ass for about a half hour or so. Or much, much longer.

New BCS Is Out

We remain #7. We continue to get jumped by teams that win while we are idle. We did move up in the human polls to #6, but are too low in the computers.

SATURDAY!!!

So the day starts off alright, except for the selection of games being televised (3 putrid Big10 matchups, ugh)...we have a WVU flag at Gameday, Purdue runs back the kickoff at Penn State, and I'll be watching football all f'ing day. Yes!

Notes: PJ Hill not be playing for Wisconsin today, so that's even more of a cakewalk for the Browneyes.

Wisconsin goes for the fake punt and succeeds. Finally, a Big10 team challenges the Browneyes, but it reeks of desperation. The Big10 is terrified of Ohio State. It always is. Winning 19 straight conference games says something about the rest of the Big 10 and its approach to beating OSU.

The BADgers just blew their shot at keeping it close by having to punt. It's 7-3 right now in favor of the Bucks, but this game is pretty much over. Wisconsin has nothing.

BigTenNetwork announcing sucks. Also, it is a fucking joke that Michigan is ranked 12th. It is an absolute travesty.

OSU 10 - WIS 3 at the half. Pure excitement.

There has been a noticable crack in the facade of confidence normally exuded by the Buckeyes. They look....nervous. I've only seen it from them a few times under Tressel, and while they're still likely to win this game, it may actually be a good finish. They're giving up some relatively big plays on defense, and are largely unable to move the ball on offense. It's intriguing.

The instant I put that last note up, Wisconsin breaks a tackle for big play, and then punches it in for a TD.

Now that tOSU has the ball back, they're looking more normal.

Somebody reminded Wisconsin that they are Wisconsin. Game over. I'm almost certain that Wisconsin threw that game, based on the stupid fake punt call at their own 27, and then a bizarre fumble, thus letting tOSU blow them out. Moving on.

Big10 games are almost done ruling TV, thank God. Penn State, Purdue, Iowa, Northwestern, Indiana, and Wisconsin all suck. tOSU is alright. There, I said something positive about them.

HOLY KANSAS!! The fighting Manginos put up a 48 spot on Nebraska in the first half, and show no signs of letting up. Granted, this is the Husker defense we're talking about, so I'm not sure whether to be impressed. Also, I forgot to mention that Kansas gave up 4 Nebraska touchdowns, so apparently the Jayhawk D blows too.

Syracuse at Pitt: who gives a shit? Not me!

USF-Cincy game is ridiculous. How did we lose to that team again?!?! Oh yeah, thanks Rich.

Texas losing to "I'm a man! I'm 40!" 14-0. How is UT ranked in the top 15 again?

Texas has tied it!! Geewhillikers.

Sparty goes down, Cincy's trying to blow it.

Bama up at the half....PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN!!!

Filthy Domers lose to Navy!!!

Oregon up already 14-3 over Arizona State. Ummm, Oregon is the tits.

Friday Night Pillowfight: Nevada v New Mexico State

vs.

You know what? I'm going to drink some rum and liveblog this damn thing. YEEHA!! Yes, this is my life...

UPDATE: On second thought, there is no one at this game. Not a soul. If the home crowd isn't bothering to watch it, why should I? Well, because I have nothing else to do. But I'm going to take a stand and refrain from wasting my time blogging about it. For now. Yum, rum.

DOUBLE UPDATE: This has been an unbelievable game since halftime. This is why I love college football so much. Absolutely brilliant offensive effort by both teams in the 2nd half. I feel bad for people not watching this. OMFG A MISSED EXTRA POINT!! I'm calling it now, NMSU comes back to win on a field goal now that the deficit is only 2. Wow.

Well, shit. The Nevada kicker will now survive the night, and the New Mexico State kid will be the goat. Either way, this was a fantastic game. I know it meant nothing, and no one was there, but it was a hell of a game. This is just one more reason we all love college football. I really feel for that NMSU kicker though. Ugh.

Scandalous Louisville Rumor

Alright, so the point shaving thing has been dispelled apparently. Thanks Mike. I'll still wait to see what happens.

EDIT: This has also been mentioned on Card Chronicle, and it is largely downplayed.

For the Record

Counting tonight, 25 of the next 26 days will feature some sort of football, either NFL or college, on national television. Thank you God!!!

Get Ready Louisville

Yes sir. 7 days until you get blown the fuck out.

Virginia Tech v Georgia Tech

vs.

This game should, well, suck. On a brighter note, some of the Virginia Tech jerseys were stolen/lost, so several players will be wearing Georgia Tech jerseys altered by magic marker. Also, both teams are rated 100+ in total offense. I love ACC football.

EDIT: Antonio Freeman just did the worst player introduction of all time. I don't think he knows any of their names, is able to read their names, or speaks English. I do think he's a complete idiot, and we are all now more stupid for listening to him try to speak. Hokie football player academics are outstanding people!

The Polls Are Fucking Rigged, and So Shall Mine Be (Week 10)

Alright. Let's get it on.

1. Oregon - so smooth and delicious to watch. They are what we should be.
2. LSU - still dumb and shaky, but no other choice really
3. WVU - Great O, great D, we're really F'ing good.
4. Oklahoma - whatever, who cares, they suck on the road.
5. Arizona State - I don't know anything about them, but I have no idea who to put here. Hey, they're unbeaten!
6. Missouri- again, I know nothing, but that's a bonus now.
7. Georgia - at this moment, they are this good. That will likely change next week.
8. Auburn - sure, why not?
9. Ohio State - Have proved nothing still, but neither has anyone else below them.
10. Alabama - I hope they beat LSU!
11. Virginia Tech - should've won that game
12. Boston College - DIE, should've lost that game
13. UConn - surprise!
14. Kansas - no idea who's on this team. LOVE MANGINO!!
15. USF - umm, play in the 1st half too idiots!!
16. Mississippi State - why the hell not? They have good wins!!!!
17. Florida - ugh, Tebow is slowly wearing down, and they will suffer even more
18. USC - the Mexican football Jesus!!
19. Clemson - who cares, they play in the ACC so it matters not
20. Boise State - smurfs! i love these bastages, but they're not great
21. Hawaii - poop, poop, poop, poop, poop schedule
22. Rutgers - we are just that damn good, and they really aren't bad
23. Cincy - still a fine team, but we'll see what happens
24. South Carolina - love me some Spurrier, but hate his QB situation
25. Michigan - they have to be in here somewhere, but still lost to HOT!HOT!HOT!

I'm gonna be honest here people. I complain an awful lot when I look at the AP/Coaches/Harris/whatever polls. But now that I'm working on my own, it's much more difficult than I thought. There are so many crappy teams that I don't feel should be ranked at all, yet no one to be put above them. 2007, my friends, is completely and utterly insane.

On a very cool note. Check out this link, and you can see how every team is voted by every AP voter. Awesome stuff.

Stay Classy State College

ROAD RAGE!!!

All we ever hear in the media is how classy and tradition-rich the Nittany Lions are. How they have such knowledgable and passionate fans. That's great. But if you ever actually go up there, you'll realize what a high volume of trash they have as well. Their women also have big hair, so I'm told. Regardless, here's a fine example of their classiness, courtesy of some idiot that videotaped it. All of that nonsense, and they get their asses kicked by every decent team they play. Sigh.

I do agree on one note though, "Fuck Ohio!"

I Have a Mancrush on John Radcliff

Why you ask? Because of stuff like this.

Some Illusion Fun

I'm not normally into this stuff, but check this one out. The ones near the end are the best.

Weekend Observations

Well, The Editor was extra cool this weekend, and allowed me to watch mucho football, as you can see above. Actually, the only thing limiting my football intake was the fact that ESPN is a bunch of dumbshits and showed 14 combined hours of horse and auto racing. At least they know their Saturday afternoon in October demographic. Who the hell is running that place?!?!

Let me begin with my beloved. We looked fantastic this weekend, in what I would deem is our best overall performance of the year to this point. Damn, our defense is good. Not just pretty good, but damn good. Sure, the Knights helped us out once or twice (or 6 times) with dropped passes, but I don't care. We owned them, as the kiddies say. Also, their crowd sucked. They must only get pumped for night games. Ray Rice, however, is a straight pimp. He's a bad mf'er.

Ohio State looked good. Not great, but good. Again, they were battling the crowd at PSU more than the actual football team, because Penn State sucks. They really, really suck in fact. That being said, they're name is Penn State so I'm sure this goes down as a huge win on the Browneye resume. Whatever, I remain largely unimpressed. And for the record, the Big10 is completely unwatchable outside of OSU. The rest of that conference is beyond bad.

I can't believe Arizona State won against Cal. It's not that I thought Cal was too good to lose the game, it's that I thought ASU was too shitty to win it. I guess I was kind of wrong. Cal is worse than I figured they were, and Arizona State is a little better. I went to bed before that one was over, while ASU still looked like shit, so I can't comment on them too much.

Oregon is f'ing good. F'ING GOOD! In my mind, they are #1. Their only loss is to Cal at home (don't know how that happened!), but they would have won without a flukey Kordell Stewart-like fumble through the endzone for a touchback. I don't think anyone can slow down their offense, and their defense is pretty good too. They will be #1 in my rigged poll to come out tomorrow. They still play ASU though, and might have another tough game or two. We'll have to see.

USC, on the other hand, is a massive disappointment. Apparently Mark Sanchez, the Mexican football Jesus, is really not all that fantastic. Is the dominant run for USC over? Perhaps, but that remains to be proven. I don't really care either way, but I'd love them to be on TV less. I hate their uniforms with the burning passion of 10,000 suns.

Boston College is fucking garbage. 58 minutes of poop and 2 minutes of VT being VT does not a #2 team make. Nor, despite anything ESPN says, does it make Matt Ryan a hero. He was pure shit for most of that game, and only improved when VT backed off on defense. Bud Foster lost that game, Ryan didn't win it. Boston College will lose a game, THEY HAVE TO!! Traitorous scum-suckers. Tech, on the other hand, just sucks like we all thought they did. America's team has no offense at all, and their D is vastly overvalued. So are their special teams apparently. BeamerBall let them down.

Marshall got win numero uno. Against Rice. In Huntington. Hooray. Thanks Joe Manchin, for killing our strength of schedule by making us play those goddam clowns. What a lose-lose situation for WVU that series is.

HOW THE HELL DID WE GET BEAT BY USF?!?!? Oh yeah, turnovers, unpreparedness, and wretched playcalling. Thanks Rich. I sure am glad we look like idiots while they get beaten by RU and UConn. That's just great.

Speaking of UConn, their defense really is pretty good. They are very disciplined, and that makes up for any of their deficiencies. I am really impressed with them overall, mostly because I figured they would be as good as a mid-level MAC team. That kid with the dreads they have at running back, Dixon, is going to give WVU some issues. Mark it down. Their passing offense, however, will not.

The SEC is a pure clusterfuck. I have no idea who's good outside of LSU. I really don't. They are looking very mediocre on the whole this season. Mississippi State beating Kentucky and Auburn though, both on the road, makes our assbeating of them seem a little bit more valuable at this point.

Did anyone see the end of Pitt-Louisville? How bad did both those teams want to lose that game? They are both so terrible right now. McCoy, for Pitt, is a really good back. I can't believe he went to Pitt. It's already begun to drag him down, as you could see when he fumbled the ball on 1st and goal at the UL 1 with time expiring. Then he cried. He lost his mind in a glass case of emotion. Skirt. I now have no respect for him at all. Poor wittle guy.

Louisville still scares me, simply because I think at any moment they can drop 80 on somebody, and I don't want that somebody to be us. Dear God in Heaven do I not want that somebody to be us. I think the Kragthorpe will be our greatest ally in that game, as he is a terrible, program ruining, fan base thinning bum of a coach. He's the new Wannstedt, while Wannstedt is still the old Wannstedt. God love him.

Are there any teams I'm missing? Oh, Missourri, blah. I think they might be good, but are never on TV where I am. And Kansas? Ummm, I still haven't seen them play, nor do I care to. They are not good, and I don't care what anyone says about them. I blame ESPN. But I do like this guy!

Mangino has to go 375, but he wears it well.

In Lieu of Devastation, I Present You With The Incredible

This is truly the most unbelievable play I've ever seen. I love Division III athletics.

Rutgers, wow....

So, um, we really hammered them. I truly thought it would be a better game than that. I mean, after getting beat 12 years in a row, you'd think they would get up for a game like that with the BigEast championship on the line and all. Or not. Maybe they are still waiting to turn that corner...

Do You Like the Gold Jerseys?

Let me know in the comments. I love the things, I just wish they were closer to the color of the stripe on the pants. But whatever, I think they're cool.

This is funny, or just downright mean. Whatever.

Courtesy of Our Friends at West BY GOD Virginia

Thanks to the fellas for linking this video highlight of the Mississippi State beatdown.

I have a couple of quick observations after seeing the game in person and watching this video. Steve Slaton is much more of a pro-style back than he was in the past. He makes more conservative jukes, though they're still sweet, and he runs with more power. He also is more likely to get out of bounds than before. He's still incredible, but he's smarter about injury, and less likely to bust the big one because of it. I'm not saying that's a bad thing either.

Our defense swarms to the ball, plays their assignments, and hits hard. They cause turnovers, and have cut way down on the big play. All in all I'm very, very impressed, and extremely happy. Our #4 defensive ranking might be a bit high, but we are certainly more than just legitimate.

Tuesday in the Rain

Well, there is no Mountaineer press conference or MSN Mountaineer Replay on my beloved Fox College Sports Atlantic channel tonight, as they are showing a women's volleyball game between Florida State and Miami. Ugh. I'll try to catch the Sportsline broadcast online though I guess, so at least I might have something to discuss.

Listening to the radio in Columbus today, the Big Show with Bruce Hooley came on at 5pm. I hated this guy last year, my first year in Columbus, but he seems to have leveled out a bit. He was mad delusional in 2006, claiming Florida and West Virginia run high school offenses, and that the Browneyes would "plant Percy Harvin in the turf if they run that stuff". This season, he's actually pretty good. He thinks the Browneyes will go undefeated, as do I, and he claims that it's a combo of their talent and a terrible schedule. Again, I think tOSU is good, but not great. They will likely go unbeaten, but it's just as much a product of the teams they play.

Tim Brown joined Hooley on the show today, and picked tOSU and LSU to play in the title game. He too thinks the Browneyes go unbeaten, and then proceeded to crush their schedule. Brown implied that the Bucks would almost certainly lose at least 2 games if their schedule were legit. Furthermore, Hooley asked Brown who impressed him this season. He mentioned only two teams, West Virginia and South Florida. He went on to say that USF was upset by a good team under the lights on the road, and that he believes that they are truly a great team that will make noise even with one loss. Mind you, Tim Brown played at Notre Dame, so I was very surprised at his remarks. The BigEast has really raised its profile in the last couple of years.

Kirky Herbstreit's Top 5 Teams:
1. OSU
2. LSU
3. Oregon
4. Oklahoma
5. Boston College

I won't argue with that too much. You can justify each of those teams being in that position, and I believe he ranks based on record and potential finish, rather than who he believes is the best team. He suggested that the upset trend will continue this week, and I think he's absolutely right. Kirky also put Oregon on Upset Alert against USC. I think if USC wins that game, they jump WVU in the BCS, but we'll see. I also think VT will jump us if (and when) they beat Boston College on Thursday.

Bottom line is this: the Mountaineers need to continue taking care of business and hope for some help. If we do that, the rest will take care of itself. The best team we've beaten is ranked #44 in the Sagarin ratings in Maryland. We have no real bragging rights type wins, and are still #7, so let's quite crying about getting no respect from the media. Considering what we've done this season, we're getting plenty.

So let's go Mountaineers, and beat that Rutgers-Jersey ass.

I Love the Japanese

Devastatingly embarrassing.

Greg Schiano, The Undergraduate Years

Again, I must issue a language warning here. This is bad, so watch the kiddies or the boss.

This is real footage taken by one of Schiano's closest friends.

THIS IS WHAT WE'RE UP AGAINST PEOPLE!!!

A Young Greg Schiano

Up-front warning: The language in this video is atrocious. Yes, I know my writing isn't exactly G-rated, but it isn't on audio. So if there are kids around or you're at work, watch yourself.

This video was captured by Schiano's grandmother.

THIS IS WHAT WE'RE UP AGAINST PEOPLE!!!

Some Credit to the Rutgers Faithful

The Rutgers fans are a funny bunch. I have a ton of respect for how they've stuck with their team through all the crappy years, and they are legitimately hilarious. I think they enjoy the WVU-RU buildup as much as I do. On that note, I'll let them get a shot in here. This link will take you to the WVU player lookalike thread on the Rutgers Rivals board.

It's Guido Time Baby!

I can smell the hair gel, B.O., and garlic tomato sauce. I can hear the terribly annoying and infuriatingly stupid accent, and see the goofy coiffures (that's hairdo for you fellow West by God natives). Finally, it's Rutgers - The State University of New Jersey week.

Rutgers, as far as football is concerned, is an excellent team in my opinion. I believe that they'll give the beloved Mountaineers all they can handle, especially in Piscataway. I mean, after all, our boys will be overwhelmed with Guido Joisey stink.

Have I mentioned that I hate New Jersey? Not the state really, I've been there and it's nice. Sadly, it's infested with trash (pictures to follow). Loud, annoying, ugly, stank-ass trash. And that's just the women!

The Polls Are Fucking Rigged, and So Shall Mine Be (Week 9)

Alright kiddies, buckle thy seat belts. Heeeeeeeeere we go.

1. LSU - Shaky? Yes. Dumb? Yes. Most talented team in the nation? Yes.
2. Oregon - Such a great offense, I just can't see them being stopped. They will lose at least one more though.
3. West Virginia - The defense is stout, the offense is the offense. We are gooood.
4. Florida - 2 losses, indeed, but I wouldn't want to play them.
5. Virginia Tech - unpopular, I know, but I have mucho respect for this team right now.
6. Oklahoma - I dunno how I feel about the Sooners, I change my mind too often.
7. USF - I know they lost at Rutgers, but I was more impressed than disappointed.
8. Auburn - I really like this team, even with 3 losses.
9. Arizona State - Who the hell is on this team?
10. USC - Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.
11. Virginia - Why the hell not?
12. Ohio State - Just keep winning, no one good enough to beat them?
13. Boston College - DIE
14. Rutgers - Look. They are really good, they just F'ed up in 2 games.
15. Kentucky - I didn't buy into Woodson. I do now.
16. Kansas - Huh? I love their fat coach though, he rocks.
17. South Carolina - Ehhh, whatever.
18. Missouri - See #17. Just not impressed. Yet.
19. Alabama - Saban's a dickface, but he's a West Virginia dickface.
20. California - Holy collapse.
21. UCONN - Give the Huskies their due, they are better than I thought.
22. Cincy - Hard for me to put them here after losing to Pitt. How did that happen?
23. Michigan - They are mad sketchy, but seem to be halfway decent anyway.
24. Maryland - These guys are good, but can't hold up for a whole game. I think they get worn out because Friedgen eats their pre-game meal.
25. Louisville - They can lose to anyone (already proven) and can beat anyone (hopefully not the Mountaineers!)

As you can probably guess, my poll is a real mess. It is almost impossible to judge teams on how good they are while disregarding their record. Sadly, I must at least attempt this feat, as tOSU and BC are not top 10 teams. I will not fall into the trap of voting teams highly because of their record without taking what they've shown into consideration. If you disagree with my poll, please comment and let me know what you'd change. Also, please refrain from cursing me or calling me an idiot, as I'm really attempting to do this thing as best I can. Or, feel free to curse me and call me an idiot. I don't really care all that much.

As I see it, WVU needs to keep winning (obviously) and hope for some help. Fortunately, I think that help will come. I figure we'll likely get jumped in the BCS no matter what, but I don't care. We screwed the pooch at USF, and we have to live with that. If we can't play in the title game, I want at least a good BCS berth. That's one more chance to show the nation what WVU football is all about.

I will end on this note. Three years ago, WVU was getting blasted in the media for being ranked in the Top 10 for their schedule, lack of tradition (even though we played for the title twice already), and assorted other nonsense. We've come a long way people. West Virginia has proven itself as a top 10 program, and gets plenty of respect. So let's quit crying about ESPN and talking heads and other fans. You don't lose a game looking as poorly as we did in Tampa and stay near the top if people don't respect you. We are the Big East flagship, and people fear us. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Paintball Devastation

This is high class.

Mississippi State in Review and A Look Around the NCAA

So I look at my buddy as Pat White steps on the field to start the game and say, "Shit. I was hoping for Jarrett Brown."
He replies, "Yeah, me too."
I then say, "You know what though? It'll only take one long TD run for me to love him again."
He says, "Yeah."

BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE!! One snap later, the man-crush is back in full effect.

I would also like to point out that even though we completely turned off the engine after the 1st quarter, I don't so much care. That MSU team was a complete joke, and our defense beat the crap out of them. Marc Magro is a man-beast, and was gnawing on human flesh for much of 3 quarters. His anti-tobacco commercial, however, is stupid as all get out.

Why did Noel Devine not play? I recall seeing him on a kickoff return fake reverse, but that's about it. Anybody know what that was all about? I'd love to get the scoop on that. I keep reading that RichRod just wanted to get Slaton back in the groove, but I don't totally buy that. I mean, if he's the #2 back, why not get him in there at all? It doesn't make any sense to me, but Rich doesn't make any sense to me about half the time anyway. Thanks to Hamilton, in the comments, who noted that the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette answers my question. Devine apparently missed a practice (the absence was indeed excused) and was not allowed to play because of missed practice time.

Great game by the defense all around. The line dominated, the linebackers were sweet, and the backs covered very, very well. I couldn't have been more pleased with that side of the ball.

The offense was its usual badass self as long as it needed to be. Since they only needed to be badass for about 8 minutes, I hope we got some guys rested. It was also cool to see White get uber-pissed when that MSU cockwrangler hit him late. I wanted Owen to ninja-kick that guy in the face just for spite.

I couldn't help but notice fat #95 on MSU's defense dancing quite a bit for a guy whose team was getting butt-raped. I guess that says a little bit about his team-first attitude and overall class. I kept hoping he'd slip a disc or something, but I'm not overly optimistic.

Finally, we've moved up to #7 in the BCS, even though we are #6 in both polls that matter. FYI, we are tied for #10 in the computer averages. Personally, I'm more than fine with #7, and I think if we handle our business from here on out we're in great shape to make some noise. Cincy losing to Pitt hurts us in my opinion, as they could have been a quality win for sure.

Around the nation a bit:
LSU got so lucky on a wretched call at the end of that Auburn game. If it hadn't worked, Les Miles would be filling for a corn dog right now. He's a moron, and I can't stand him. I wish nothing but bad things for his career.

UCONN is one screwed up snap from being 7-0. Their defense looked really good against the hapless Cardinals, and I think they're better than I thought they were. Kudos to them, I think they're a cute little program. I'd hate to see Edsall leave for Syracuse, per the rumor mill.

Newsflash: The Big10 is poop. Penn State sucks ass, and was unbelievably fortunate to escape Bloomington. The same can be said for Michigan against the Fighting Zookers. tOSU was uninspiring as usual, at least on the scoreboard. I spoke to a Browneye compadre though, and he said it was no big deal. He felt tOSU was in command and was never really threatened. I didn't watch that "game" so I'll take his word for it.

I heard on the radio today that Vandy beating USC-E is conclusive evidence that the SEC is by far the deepest and most outstanding conference. I agree that it is, based on the number of good teams. I disagree that Vandy winning is undeniable proof, because when bad teams beat good teams in any other league, it only proves the good teams suck. But whatever, I don't know any SEC fans anyway, so there's no point in me bitching.

Oklahoma is all kinds of unimpressive. They have looked like garbage lately, but they do keep pulling out wins. The computers have them ranked #14, and I agree. If they Big12 had any real good teams, they might be in trouble. I still think the Sooners go down one more time before it's all over.

BC will lose at VT, but VT will likely then jump over us. It does us no good really no matter what happens in that game, as we need VT to lose another and probably BC to lose 2 total. The ACC is what it shall forever be; Virginia Tech's to lose, considering FSU and Miami are in the shitter for the foreseeable future. We'll have to let that one play out and complain more about it later.

I can't see Oregon and Arizona State getting through the Pac-10 unscathed. I have the Ducks losing one more, and ASU dropping 2 or 3. No sweat off my balls there.

tOSU is unlikely to lose because no one in the Big10 can beat them. I'm over it. The Big-10 is straight shit.

LSU will lose. They are too shaky and dumb to get all the way through the rest of their slate. The Bayou Bengals are winning in spite of Les Miles, not because of him. He is a dumb son of a bitch to be quite frank. He better thank his lucky stars that they have the talent they do. For what it's worth, I still don't think their offense is very impressive. Glenn Dorsey, on the other hand, feasts on the hearts and livers of mortal humans.

Thanks to all the upsets and nonsense, college football is fun for me again. When we lost to USF, I was sick about the whole situation. As the next day and subsequent weeks have played out, I could be sick about the fact that we should be #1. As it stands, I'm loving all the chaos, and the fact that we're right back in the mix. This is a year to end all years on the college football front, and regardless of the outcome, we should all savor this. So root for the Mountaineers or whoever, and just roll with it people. This is something to behold.
